In Memoriam
President Emeritus James O. Freedman, 15th president of Dartmouth College (1987-98) and an influential leader in American higher education, died Tuesday, March 21 at age 70. Mr. Freedman died at his home in Cambridge, Mass., after a long and courageous struggle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

I just returned from spending a week in Amman, Jordan, with a group of lawyers from Philadelphia, Detroit, and London, as well as a journalist and a photographer from the states interviewing victims of torture from Iraq.
