Hello fellow dartmouth ’85s!

Here’s our May 2016 Class of ’85 News & Events email blast – a quick monthly update to help keep us connected to each other, to the college, and to Dartmouth Class of 1985 items of interest.

April News & Events Update

Dartmouth Alumni

Monthly News & Events – April 2016

In honor of the month of April, does anyone still have a copy of the fake Daily D from April 1, 1982, (done by the Jack O’Lantern)? It was the issue distributed across Campus that announced that the College had decided to close the fraternities. Let us know!

Our goal with these monthly emails is to help keep us connected to each other, our class and the college.  As we continue to fine tune our format, we welcome your input.  Please let us know what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d like to see included.

Happy Spring!

Lisa and Margaret

CALLOUT: Have you done a 180 with your career path?

In our Spring Class of ’85 Newsletter we will be highlighting classmates who have made a career “pivot”.  If your career is now very different from what you started with many years ago, please send us your story – where you are, what made you change and the highs and lows of this new career.

If you are considering a career change of any type, check out these free lunchtime webinar from the Alumni Office:

Strategies for a Successful Career Pivot

Ready to take the next step in your career? Dartmouth Alumni’s “Strategies for a Successful Career Pivot” free lunchtime webinar series will help you put your best foot forward.
Whether you’re looking to switch jobs, move ahead in the one you have, or transition to a whole new field, our experts will help you take stock, identify your strengths, tell your story, and develop the competencies you need to plan your next move.

The series begins on Wednesday, March 23 from noon-1 p.m. (ET) with “Telling Your Career Story: The Art of Narrative.” Paul Argenti, professor of corporate communication, will share the techniques he teaches at the Tuck School of Business to prepare you to tell your own story no matter what questions you’re asked or how pressured the situation may be.

Participate in as many webinars as you like, or choose the topics that are most important to you. New episodes on salary negotiation, interview skills, and personal branding will launch in May and June.

85th Day of the Year Celebration

Friday, March 25th:  here we come!!!!

Happy March!  Well, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring and it sure seems to be real here in Georgia.  Hope that it’s happening in your part of the world too!

Well, March is a special month for the ’85 family.  Not only do we get to celebrate a holiday filled with Green (St. Patrick’s Day) and March Madness (and yes, the first day of spring), but it’s the month when we ’85’s celebrate a really important and exciting day of the year-you guessed it-the 85th day of the year-yahoooo!!!!!  With Leap Year in the mix, we celebrate this major milestone on Friday, March 25th (counted and double-counted-and hopeful that I got it right:-)  So it’s time for another virtual mini-reunion for the Class.

Get out your “ancient” Dartmouth-wear and take a picture wearing it (or stick it on your child/pet/friend and take some pics:-).  If you can, gather a bunch of Dartmouth ’85 buddies and watch some March Madness (or not) and take a picture of the gang.  Post these awesome pics to our class Facebook page (Dartmouth Class of 1985) (thank you Jeff Weitzman, our fearless webmaster, for making this page a reality). Get out those photo-albums and post some throw-back pictures from our “glory days” on the site too.

Any and all of these things will be great BUT PLEASE DO AT LEAST ONE OF THEM on or around Friday, March 25th.  Let’s make it festive folks.  Todd and I feel so darn grateful to be part of this great class of ’85-truly an honor and a privilege.  So let’s show some spirit and make Friday, March 25th “our” day.

With gratitude-Valerie (Hartman) and Todd (Cranford) (mini-reunion chairs)

PS:  And in the spirit of some good, fun competition, let’s see who can post the most pics for our 85th Day of the Year Celebration-there will be a special shout out for the winner (and maybe something more:-)
